From the post: An Italian restaurant chain has abruptly shut 13 underperforming locations across the US. Buca di Beppo, known for its family-style dishes and vintage décor, permanently closed restaurants in California and Florida and its last remaining locations in Michigan and Pennsylvania in the last week. Former employees at some eateries, many of which have been open for over two decades, said the closure came as a shock.

There used to be one somewhere here...I remember going to it once with a couple of friends. It wasn't anything special - there are plenty of Italian joints around the area where the owner is happy to see you and comes out and asks you how the sauce is today.

Not my experience but I am sure that these are often franchises like most places. That can make a difference even with some mass-market junk if the owner actually cares.

Don't get me wrong, it wasn't "bad" food, it just wasn't anything other than kind of expensive for what it was.

I don't think the one I went to has been there for some years...too many other places around here vying for business.
