This is interesting because of something I noticed over the past weekend.
The local K-Roger is selling chicken for $7 a pound, which is about $3 more than it was a couple of years ago. However, this place:

was selling giant chicken breasts for $1.99 a pound. All of the meat they had was reasonably priced, even for what you'd have paid a couple of years ago. I stocked up on chicken and their 1lb packs of 85/15 burger, and came away with a bill less than a couple of pounds at the local grocery. If you need any proof of artificial scarcity, this is a good indicator.
