Everyone I know that was laid off has found something else at this point, taking advantage of the employers willingness (albeit with prejudice) higher wages and aren't going back to the lo-rent fast food and retail operations they used to work at.

Yes it is, but we're not there. Yet.

A whole bunch are dead and crippled. These numbers are far larger than people realize.

Boomers are now retiring early on mass instead of staying late in the workforce because covid terrifies them. They are not coming back.

Gen X lives on boomer money and hasn't held a real job in decades. They are not about to start now. Boomers keep the money flowing or they get put in a home. They know what that means.

Gen Y isn't quite ready to fill the senior roles. Maybe those born in the early eighties. Most are already gainfully employed and did not leave the workforce during the pandemic. They can't return to work because they never left it. Except for those killed by the vax. Gen Y pretty much gets to call their own wages now.

So what now? You move your 35 year old supervisors into the now vacant 60 year old manager's position? Like you have any other choice? That's a formula for disaster.

Then try to tell some 20 year old Gen Z he's to be the new warehouse supervisor? He's still running around getting high and getting his dick wet, racing his cars and crashing into trees. In the warehouse he's gonna get everybody killed. Maybe burn the whole place down with an industrial accident.

Oh yeah, the fun is just getting started.
