You are correct. I forgot to invert it. $100 was 0.26 ounces in 1990, and in 2020 0.26 ounces was worth $493.

I always look at it like this: 100 years ago you could buy an Italian suit for a $20 gold coin, and today you still can. It's the value of the dollar that's changing, not so much the value of gold.
