Covid caused a surge in people buying Rvs so the companies making them cranked em out like crazy. The quality dropped. And prices on camping is no longer cheap. The family owned campgrounds are gone an all owned by corporations now.

Last time I went camping we had a tent and an air mattress, and cooked ham steaks on the little camp grill at the site.

Believe me, it's overrated. You were probably in college the last time you did that. Take it from me, your idea of camping now is more like staying at a BestWestern instead of a Marriott.
I tried that with my son not long ago. I bought all new stuff, slept in it once. Gave my son everything because I knew I'd never use that again.
(Ps) I recently purchased enough "camping" gear for emergencies with a huge bug out bag. But this is in case society degenerates to the point i cannot stay in my house. I pray like hell I never actually use any of it!
