It is very important to plan for your future and to not rely on things like the government or a company you work for to provide for your retirement. However, experiences are worth a whole lot more than that extra 8k sitting in the bank most of the time. He does have a point though. If you are fairly healthy and have longevity in your family it is likely you can reach 90 (as long as you didn't take that covid shot).

Yes and they can be had for cheap. Some of my best vacations were tent camping at national parks. You don't need to spend a lot.

You need to find a balance. I personally save a lot more than I probably need to, but I love the piece of mind knowing my home is paid for and I have no outstanding notes. Even if it means I'm driving a 10 year old car.

My car is a 1998. It works just fine, I don't care about having a new one and I take care of this one. My expenses are basic upkeep/tires/breaks/fluids/insurance/etc. I have not had a car payment in over 10 years and I love that.

Also, you are completely right about vacations not needing to be expensive. Sometimes you may want to do something that costs more but you don't have to and if its not a regular thing it makes it more special.

Then again, there is something about being out in nature and under the stars with no light for miles. Most people don't seem to ever experience that anymore since they live in suffocating cities and never know what the night sky really looks like.

Very well put!

You should always plan for long life. Sure, you can get hit by bad luck but that is better than planning on cat food and government gibs.
