“Can’t mothers just breastfeed?” If you’re a clueless, childless, male like me, you probably had the same thought. But it’s actually not that simple.

“It’s not a spigot,” Bethany Mandel, a prominent conservative writer and a mom of five, explained to me with a laugh. “It’s a really precarious ecosystem. There are a lot of women who have biological difficulties with it, whether they don’t produce enough milk, or they’re on a medication that’s contraindicated with breastfeeding… there’s a lot of those situations.”

Mandel also explained that sometimes women stop producing adequate amounts of breastmilk if they get pregnant again. What’s more, sometimes the natural process that prompts a mother’s body to produce milk falters when they return to work and spend more time away from their baby. She stressed that for mothers who rely on formula, the current shortage is a grave problem, forcing them into drastic measures as stores start rationing.

LMAO. All these problems with lactation are a direct result of (((women's liberation))). Yes, c-sections, indictions, and drugging your way out of the pain of childbearing fuck with lactation. Yes psych meds and birth control fuck with lactation. Yes, shitty nutrition fucks with lactation. Yes, abandoning your baby to daycare so you can LARP at your career fucks with lactation. Yes, abandoning your baby in the other room and not breastfeeding through the night fucks with lactation. And yes, a very small number of woman address all of those self-inflicted problems and still cannot produce enough milk; there are crisis pregnancy centers that put these women in contact with mothers who have an oversupply of milk. This dependency on formula is a feature, not a bug of the destruction of the nuclear family. I enables mothers to leave the home and fail to nurture their infants properly. It damages bonds between mother and child. And it harms the development of infant immune systems.

Anyone whining about formula availability needs to get their shit in order. Just like with schools closing for COHEN-19 forcing many parents to actually do their job and teach their own children, I hope this shortage forces negligent mothers to figure out how to actually nourish their infants properly.

Good points about not acting like a mother causing lactation problems. SAHMs who actually act like one rarely have problems.

NPCs whine a lot about this being unaffordable, but we both know that's BS. I know a number of 20-30 something guys who'd be only too happy to get married and support a SAHM, but riding the carousel and a corporate make-work job they hate is more appealing to the single ladies.

It's only more difficult to afford because of all the strong independent women destroying the labor market and keeling their husband's wages artificially low lol.

Strong, independent women: "I need a job to afford stuff. Why did doubling the labor supply halve wages???"

What makes it worse is that precious few women choose useful fields where they can support their husband staying at home to raise children once they're done breastfeeding. It's overwhelmingly touchy-feely bullshit that pays $40k/yr with a bachelors degree because math is scary.

10 fucking 10. My wife is VERY pro breastfeeding. Even donated extra milk to mothers. Your spot on!

Excuses Excuses Excuses WAH! "Drastic measures..." like staying home with your kid. If you are a single Mom? Now you see the unintended consequences.
