Composting and vermiculture is a lost/dying art. A small organic family farm of approximately 10 acres can function prosperously year round with a composting section of only 20ft by 20ft. I realize commercial scale agriculture operates in sizes of hundreds if not thousands of square acres so yes these techniques would have to scale upward but to be honest, I’ve met a commercial fruit grower who spends $150,000+ per year just for bone meal and blood meal….the only composting they even try to do is shoving old fruit trees into the wood chipper and spreading it around the base of the new trees.
