Oh I was just making fun of the article. Point being if they are such valuable employees, why are they unemployed? It's the geriatric equivalent of a single mom on a dating app "looking for a real man", you can't help wonder what was wrong with her.
In some cases, I'm sure that the unwillingness to learn new things hurts older candidates, but I've watched a few places not hire older candidates because they actually wanted a decent salary for their skills, only to turn around and hire a very fresh face who couldn't do the job (not necessarily through any fault of their own, they just didn't have the experience you needed.)
