I own a business and we do a 4-10 schedule M-Th. My employees love it. It gives them more time with their families, time to travel on their weekend, and less commuting time. I love it because my employees have fewer missed days (calling in sick when they really just want a 3 day weekend) and our employee retention is better. The only people who don't like it are fussy customers, but I don't want the them anyway. I'm fine losing the customers who complain non-stop. They can go to my competition. I have no problem filling our capacity with good customers who understand my employees have a right to time off as well.

In some places, if you make your employees work 10 hours instead of 8, you have to pay them an extra break.

Yes, Jews really are this greedy.

4x10?

I would prefer that.

The fewer days we waste at work, the more days we can spend with family.

Exactly.

Of course, when it comes time to get some groceries you won't have much to spend. And the stores may not even be open, 'cause all the employees that work there will also be home with their families.

And no gas for the car anyway, 'cause no one to run the gas stations, no one to produce the gas. But, you have plenty of time to walk to the store, though there won't be much to buy, 'cause everyone's home with their families, no one to stock the shelves.

Turn on the TV, now that you have time to watch, but not much is on 'cause everyone is home with their families, no one to run the station, no one to get in front of the cameras.

Other countries manage just fine

Let's outsource Congress to India.

I don't even understand this dilemma. It's up to an employer to set shift and full time hours. I used to work for a company where 25 hours was full-time. If every office ever is open from 9 to 5 with two shifts that's no one's problem but the companies in question. If you want that changed then take issue with the outdated companies (and government) who keep it up.

Maybe they're going to lower the overtime enforcement at 32 hours instead of 40

Did 10×4 and 12hour Panama shifts.. all that seems to do is accelerate burn-out.. (not everyone feels tjis way of course). I prefer 9/80 compressed schedules where you get a 3-day weekend every other week. Or a 4-day on-site and a day wfh; balances well.
