There’s farmers who never farm, is it called soil or crop banks, I see it every time I’m on vacation visiting relatives in farmland and a few are farmers. They get paid not to grow crops, the more connected you are the more likely you get paid for doing nothing with your land. They also will pay you to plant multiple types of crops to see which will yield the most and at the end of the season you till it under and get paid.
