Yeah, the costs go up throughout the system to maintain a better looking price point. There are local differences, but it's interesting how (in a country the size of the USA at least) that prices for things like garbage fast food are very similar across the nation.

It helps when you have Papa Sam paying you to maintain the shitty system in place. If it wasnt for govt intervention at all levels of the supply chain, the problems would be way more apparent
