Their bullshit games are not going to last. Especially now that everyone can see that it's actually cheaper to work remotely.
Oh you need to fill important by having people show up bright and early at the office and have multi-hour long meetings that serve no real purpose. Suddenly the employees working from home are blowing through their tasks in half the time they needed before. Because they don't have to deal with commutes and office bullshit.
Some of these boomers are running scared because of the problems (they created) in side their teams/departments.
Maybe some of them will connect the dots and realize they should be contracting jobs out to small firms remotely instead having full time employees for everything.
