It's cheaper to allow employees to work remotely now that they're home workstations/offices are set up to do so.

It's even cheaper to contract jobs out to small firms instead of having a in house team for everything.

You have to be careful with contracting though, and have someone on the decision-making board that is primarily concerned with doing the job right, rather than just saving money. Focusing mainly on the cost is the easiest way to get cut-rate streetshitters.
