It was plodding and uninspired. The climactic heist at the end seemed as exciting as a soggy donut.

"The climactic heist at the end"

We're only 1/2 way through the season, mate. There's more plodding and uninspired soggy doughnut to behold.

I really don't get why everyone is creaming themselves about the show. I mean I get it that it's not a fucking dumpster fire like every Disney effort but with the exception of the visuals it's really a crappy show.

Not a single character draws you in -- the problem is mostly the dialogue, but character motivations are pretty sketchy too -- and almost every scene is so obviously padded to increase run time. Stilted, awkward dialogue is okay when things move along briskly and each line serves a purpose. The original trilogy are perfect examples of this. But Andor is clunky line after clunky line and even a good actor like Skarsgard flails away at it. And many of the actors are not that good.

And that moronic heist, what a mess. They spend, what?, 3 episodes leading up to it and then it plays out with all of the tension of a trip to the dentist. Even the Tie fighter chase has zero tension. Damn it looked pretty though.

Andor the character is constantly played up as some key participant with important skills but he mostly wanders from situation to situation without any apparent agency whatsoever. He's crucial to the storyline only because they tell us that, and often. But never once did I actually get a sense of it.

It's competently shot is the best thing I can say about the show.
