From the post:

>A baker was strangled to death after her scarf got caught in a bread-maker at her bakery in Greece. Local reports said the baker was a 49-year-old named Zoe, who owned a business in the village of Damasi, near Larissa. Talking to the Greek news outlet Protothema, the woman who found the dead baker said: 'She was standing over the bread-maker. The scarf she was wearing around her neck was caught in the machine. 'It's a shame and unfair. I've been shaking since morning, I can't believe it, I don't want to believe that our Zoe is gone.' The incident occurred on Thursday morning while the baker was cleaning her bread-maker.

Wearing jewelry or loose clothing while working with moving equipment violates the first rule of safety. It's a rule that you often only get to violate once.

Exactly. That is why I felt that this sub was the right one for the post.

Indeed it is. Oh well, she learned the hard way.

Part of my job is telling this to a bunch of idiots who would rather gamble with their lives and well being. In the last couple of weeks one of them got an arm broke and another nearly got crushed. The second person was bleeding from the eyes.. moments from death.. they got lucky someone else was walking by and was able to shut the machine off.

ugh...morons.

We weren't even allowed to touch the equipment in vocational electronics, let alone turn it on, until the instructor was satisfied we understood the safety aspect.

How horrible. The jewess dancer Isadora Duncan died in a similar fashion where her stupid overly long scarf was caught in the axle of a car

That is terrifying. I used to have a beard down to my waist. I wrench on all of my own stuff. One day I was under the hood while the engine was running and felt a slight tug on my beard. I immediately turned off the car, went in the house, grabbed some scissors and chopped of my beard up to just a few inches.

Yeah, though.. At least in your case it might hurt like hell and you would probably lose some skin but its pretty likely you wouldn't have died. Still.... The "what if" hangs in your head... I would have done the same.
