There is nothing wrong or impossible with the idea of private companies or individuals building and operating submersibles to go to whatever depth they want. The problem with OceanGate was that their design was fucking retarded and destined to fail from the beginning. The Ocean doesn't fuck around, and the deep ocean is several orders of magnitude more difficult. So, if you're going to do it, you'll need to know what you are doing, not be some fuck head who thinks carbon fiber = strong, because carbon fiber.

The design that these folks will use will most likely be the tried and tested titanium sphere design with a very small and very thick window to look out of. This is why it will be a 2 man submersible, because there is not room for a whole fucking troupe in there. There will be the pilot and one passenger and that is about it. It will still be a high risk activity, but that's up to the people who choose to go on it to determine whether the level of risk is acceptable to them.

The companies making the subs must first and foremost have an anti DEI policy where their only criteria is that the people working for them are the best in their fields. End of story.

Also, since they're going to be diving down to where it is about 400 atmospheres of pressure, maybe they should make the craft capable of withstanding much more than that, say 1,100 atmospheres, which is about the pressure at the bottom of the MarianaTrench.
