The image shows the baby pushing the couple apart, when that should be a bonding experience.

I don't enjoy the image of the child in the bed with the parents while they are asleep. That is not a time a child should be in that bed.

Because of the chance of suffocation? I wonder how much that actually happens if you control for morbidly obese people, or people who pass out drunk or what not. baby's have been sleeping right next to their parents since before humans were humans.

That is a concern for sure. The reason is the relationship between the husband and wife must be paramount over that of the child. The bed is a symbol of that.
