The new gameplay now you'll have to change from weapon to weapon because of enemy immunities. You'll have to survive on glory kills, chainsaw rips, and anything you find in the game such as secrets like in classic Doom I & II. For me, I'm playing Doom II once again on Ultra-violence and finding all the secrets are extremely useful such as finding the secret level M31: "Wolfenstein" and M32: "Grosse" with being that the super secret level Grosse have an extreme amount of BFG & rocket ammo along with invulernability and a megashpere power up.
Since DOOM: Eternal is basically DOOM II but revamped over 9000 I expect the reward of searching around for secrets to be extremely good.
I'm a fan of the Doom series from once I was introduced to it by my dad & I loved it ever since. Yet I understand your distaste for it and that is fine. What I consider as "console trash" is ME: Andromeda and that game had potential but was extremely pissed off once I got my hands on it to play. what I usually do is ignore all of the bad news until I get & play the game for myself before bashing. Such as what I did for ME: Andromeda by ignoring all of the bashing until I got my hands on the game or watch no commentary gameplay and make up my own mind.
If the game is bad, I usually wait until they're on sale which was hilarious for ME:A. Because within a month after its release, it was on sale for $4.00 at GameStop.
