I always try to live my day to be as awesome as my dog thinks I am, and then match her energy when I come home and she greets me. The lockdowns in 2020 were so good for her.

I work from home, so I spend a lot of time with my dogs. When I leave the house for an extended and come back, I greet them calmly and give them a treat. Then I spend a few minutes just sitting with them.

I have mostly worked at home since COVID, my dog misses me if I go outside to check the mail. She can see me the entire time, as I walk back to the house her tail starts wagging and she does her little happy dance. In her older age, she doesn't jump or anything like that, so I bring back the energy that she used to pour out to us and then give her a hug for a while.

That's awesome.
My two watch from the window when I go get the mail or put out the trash. Their excitement is less when they can see me the whole time, but they're still happy I'm back. :-D

I call the time processing bullshit. My dogs know exactly when it's time for breakfast, dinner, treat time, bed time.

It's not exactly the same. Dogs don't 'live in the moment' like many people say, and they do indeed understand the concept of time. My dogs know those same event times yours do. The theory expressed in the video is that when a dog's person leaves a chemical reaction happens in the brain that changes their perception. There is one kind of time with you there, and another when you're not there.
