After reading your reply, I just realized why I always buy entire stock of things that my wife and kids like or love. It is not because I don't want to make more trips to buy kore things, it is so that they never have to run out of something or go without that thing because I don't want them to have to search for something that they want and not be able to find it. It is so that I never have to tell them "sorry I can't find it" and feel the same way I felt when I let down my dog.

That's damned nice of you, and I'm not joking.
I buy things for the wife that I know she likes, but I don't stock up on them. She changes her preferences often enough that it would be silly to do. ;-)

For those kinds of things, I refuse to even buy. Like purses for example. I will hear her bitch about her purse because it is so small and ot can't hold enough things. She switches it out for a huge purse and is happy for a bit, then bitches that it is hard to find what she is looking for in there.

Consumables though, I will buy the shit out of those.
