If you have the time, figure out how to make your own treats. Also, be very careful with peanut butter these days a lot of brands have added ingredients that are toxic to dogs.

Came here to say that.

Doggos love freshly cut bones with marrow

Even if you get them frozen from a butcher that is a great idea too.

There's also a huge problem with some new vax that's killing dogs left and right.

Stop using manufactured sludge as animal food.

Go to farmers markets and find the vendors selling grass fed grass finished beef (that also were not given hormones etc, basically organic). In addition to buying your meat there, get some for you dog too. They typically have special cuts of bones made just for dogs. You can also get them cow tongue, liver, lungs, or heart.

Also, stay away from commercial made dog food. Most of it contains seed oils that are bad enough for humans, but are REALLY bad for out best friends.

Dog/Cat food was not a thing until the early world war(s). The "fresh food/meat" had to be reserved for the military so "Dog/Cat food" was created because people still love their pets but couldn't feed them the way they used to. Or at least that is what I have read, I could be wrong and would welcome someone correcting me or adding details.

That sounds very plausible. Old people had sayings like "she's more mixed up than a dog's breakfast". That saying could only be a thing if people were feeding their dogs just a bunch of leftover human food.

Dogs were domesticated by eating the leftovers form early humans. It is not unreasonable to consider that as common back then. Also, I am fairly sure both dogs and cats were fed the raw bits that the humans did not find as desirable.
