I don't know how folks here can do both at work. I would have been read the riot act back when I was in the workforce if management found out I was spending work time on social media - or stock charts - or news articles - or personal email. There were backstabbers that loved to cause problems for those doing the heavy lifting. Times are very different I guess.
My work day spans five time zones, so there's down-time at odd hours. Since I;m at my desk anyway I just switch to my personal laptop to goof off online.
You are fortunate (and smart) to have breathing room. I was buried in tech work. Outrageous project schedules and expectations. My bp dropped about 40 pts after I left. I have no regrets about leaving, except I that really miss slaying the tech challenges. I truly enjoyed every minute of that.
My days can get pretty hectic, but I usually find a little bit of breathing room.
