Dog knows when you need more attention.. Or when they need more from you. Hours to them are days to us.
If a dog lived to be 70, that'd be like 490 years to us.
i have never regretted time spent with the dog, can't say the same with people

When the wife and I go somewhere and leave doggo home alone for a couple hours, when we come home he pouts, sits in his favorite chair and give us side-eyes for about 5 minutes before he acknowledges that were back.
You're all he's got. When dogs need affection, they're just honest and up front about it. It is always good to give affection to them because it benefits you too, and then when you see how happy your dog is, and you realize that it is you making your dog happy, it feels even better for you.
