Part of the problem here is you do not need to bathe dogs. They do not need baths unless they are exposed to something that can’t be rinsed off with a water hose. All a dog needs is a simple daily brushing and they will stay clean. Shampoo and soaps are terrible for dogs. I’ve never washed my dogs, I brush and pet them all the time, they don’t smell bad, ever!

Edit to add: consistent normal diet also plays a huge part here. Table scraps will take its toll on a family pet.

ehhh. I think people (like my mother) OVERwash their dogs (weekly baths), but I suspect every 3 or 4 weeks a good bath is in order. As an owner, you'd know better than me, thiough.

Moms okay washing the dog, as long as she doesn’t use soap or shampoo. Dogs love water, love baths and will happily play along. It’s the chemicals that hurt them.
