Xir will be very pissed of the first time it tries to lick its balls.
Just give em the antibiotics and dont let it chew at the stitches. Watch for signs of infection etc. Plenty of flyids and food etc. No playing and rough housing. Takes a few weeks to heal.
It’s no big deal. Keep it low key for a few days, stitches should dissolve rather quickly. As long as the canine is eating, drinking, urinating, and defecting regularly, you’ll be golden.
Cool, thanks. I was wondering if I needed to separate him from my other dog... but I can probably get away with just monitoring.
Well you know your dogs better than we do. It all just depends. All mine seem to get along but again no rough housing and excesaive playing. If it gets bad then yes separate. You got this. Good luck!
Ah, thanks. Well - I know my dog, but we're adopting the newly-neutered dog from a shelter tomorrow, so I don't know him very well. Luckily my dog listens to commands really well, so she shouldn't be a problem.
What kind of dogs do you have?
Sick and injured doggies go into the crate to rest and heal. Minimize stimulation for a couple days and the sleep he takes will do him good. Let him out from time to time, of course. You can cover the crate with a blanket, too. That will make it quiet, warm, and boring. Nap time!
Make sure he wears the cone of shame. I think the incision will itch as it heals.
Aww the cone of shame :( Poor dog.
Thanks for the advice, I forgot that he'll probably be on pain pills for a few days, so rest will be the first priority.
