I work for a huge 'nonprofit'. When I started 14 years ago it was run by nuns. Even then it had a multimillion paid CEO. Now it's all about profit so that the Indians in the directorships can get huge bonuses and raises. It's amazing how much it has changed in that time and I thought it was a corrupt mess when I started. Nonprofits and NGOs are a great way for gov money to be handed out in bulk to the people at the top.
