During highschool in the 90's, I got into "end of the world" type stuff by watching Jack Van Impe, and eventually I found the web forum TB2k, then one by one, ATS, GLP, and FCN, which by 2010 was crowded with aging hippies. I learned about the theosophists like Blavatsky and Steiner, spiritualists, all the way to American psychics like Cayce, and modern ones such as Jordan Maxwell and David WIlcock. They all talked about vibrations and 12-strand DNA and indigo children, and everything, but they were especially interested in December 2012, which represented the end of time (something I had interest in from before) and when humanity would enter the age of aquarius, gain mental telepathy, and a golden age of perfect harmony would begin. Needless to say, once the time came and went, I, and assumedly many of them, were disappointed when none of that happened. It was the second huge disappointment of my life.
My mom used to watch Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, Jack Van Impe and his wife, Hal Lindsey, John Hagee and others. Mostly those discussing the end times.
I later found Les Feldick, an Oklahoma Rancher that kind of fell into teaching bible study for his community and it grew from there. No gimmicks, no grifting, no bs. He produced an incredible bible study series by simply recording his local lessons. I like his approach. I do my best not to stray from the bible itself.
