Sounds like projection. There are plenty of radical left wing activists who operate as effective sleeper cells, waiting for the "wrong" politician to get into power, at which time they unleash chaos on the country (see the "summer of love").

What these people say, the "fears" they have, are in reality what they want to do to their enemies. They imagine that their enemies want to do to them what they want to do to their enemies, so they accuse them of planning just that. This kind of unintelligent thinking pervades the left.
