Why not realese more water out of the Lake Powell Dam to fill lake mead? Like let the water flow?

I think it's an issue of overconsumption caused by mismanagement, combined with actual conditions much dryer than what was projected. I believe Lake Powell is also quite low.

My guess would be some type of enforced rationing on the people to make sure the Mexicans get their water. Turning on the water for 1 hour a week would be my guess.

Treaties come first in law…. So Mexico gets whatever there is and the US will simply perish. Pretty sure that’s a recipe for an uprising. Grim stuff all around.

Lake Mead provides water to the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada as well as some of Mexico, providing sustenance to nearly 20 million people and large areas of farmland. If the reservoir dips below 895 feet — Lake Mead would reach dead pool, carrying enormous consequences for millions of people across Arizona, California, Nevada and parts of Mexico. Experts from the Bureau of Reclamation say Lake Mead stands at a tier 1 shortage, and have predicted that Lake Mead will reach a tier 2 level by 2023 and a tier 3 level possibly in 2024.
