Those filed were saved in a folder only accessible to administrator accounts.

I ran a backup of several folders from a non-administrative account, thus filed in those folders got missed out without me realizing it first.

When I wanted to free up space, I erased some of the files I presumed to be backed up.

A few weeks later, looking into the backup, there files were not there. That realization was a pain in the butt.

Before freeing up space, make sure the files are backed up.

I did something like that myself lately. It sucks. I should have checked to be sure I had all the data I wanted on a backup before I let it get wiped.
