True statement. We always had the token black kid at school growing up, so I never really had to encounter blacks until years later when I enlisted in the Navy. That’s when I realized I don’t want to live around them.

For me it was when I was working construction in Detroit. Half had to be black, so they just found places to hide and sleep knowing they had to be there.

Same for me, except it was the Marines. There were zero blacks where I went to school for the first nine years.
