The Satanic impulse is impossible to control, once you let it get a hold on you. Part of its very nature is lack of self-control, overindulgence, excess. It never knows when enough is enough. It's what drives drug addicts to overdose. It is brutish and cruel and vulgar, although it can for a time hide its face behind a mask of geniality to get what it wants. But it always betrays itself. It is a ravening wolf that has but a little time. It is a self-destructive impulse, which is why you see so many people mutilating themselves or putting themselves and others in harm's way.
