It went down about the time poal did. Anglin isn't saying much, but the tor site is still up, and they've been posting at the .name address

Tor has its perks, but the popular idea that it is 100% private, secure, and safe is false. Practically speaking it is slow and it lacks the creature comforts of the surface web, but it is a good hiding place for a lot of things, out of the way of most normies.

I'm no techie but how I see it is Tor keeps getting upgraded, on version 3 onion or whatever. Even if Tor isn't the answer the idea behind it is, a system that can't be tracked or taken down. There are a few other projects like Zeronet and Aether but didn't really work well for me (and it's pointless if no one else is there).
