China loves fake food. The best one was fake rice. This is a real thing, not a joke. Some years ago, it was discovered that the Chinese were selling fake rice to Chinese buyers. Instead of rice grains, it had tiny rolls of white paper. That's right, each grain of rice was fake. How those doing this could possibly have made money at it is beyond me, but it was in the news.
Yeah, mainland China has no quality control outside of Hong Kong. A gook friend of mine informed me that mothers that need baby formula will exclusively buy from Hong Kong, as the lack of quality control everywhere else allows for them to sell formula that ends up severely harming or even killing the child.
Crazy stuff, man.
