The fracture has been there since Vatican 2, the opposition is picking up steam. Lots of clergy, especially the young, relate to the old mass and church structure.

It would seem so. While of course there have always been older people who stuck to the traditional mass, there are way more young people going to the Latin masses than go to the new mass. I think clergy generally see the new mass as superficial.
