The idea that [Navalny] has some powerful belief in something is not only not believable, but they’re not even really making that argument in the Western media (it’s just vaguely implied). What is someone who supports the West in Russia supposed to believe in? What grand American idea is he supposed to be trying to bring to Russia? Obviously, gay pride. We all get that. It’s kind of a joke, but beyond that, what would Russians want to emulate?

It’s a serious question, which I don’t think anyone has a serious answer to. This idea of America bringing freedom to the world was stupid enough already. After this coronavirus thing, people stripped of basic personal freedoms and locked in their houses, small businesses forced to hand over their wealth to the elite, the fake election, military in the streets – no one wants this.
