there is no principle that they are defending. They signed off on giving all kinds of money to basically everyone on earth. The bill last week gives $85 million to Cambodia, a country that I doubt one in 1,000 Americans could find on a map, or even name the continent it is on. So it’s not like they have some really hardcore unwavering principle against giving people free money. They are just saying, very specifically, that you can’t have money.
