It's not 1 to 5 raiders you'll have to deal with if you're visible, if you're a farm on the map, it's entire fucking cities, starving
How are you gonna grow your own food if you can't defend the farmland? Hopefully the city folk will mostly wipe themselves out before they find your farm. Me, I'll be dead by then and my entire genetic line will be wiped off the earth, so I won't really have to worry about it.

Forget about the industrial way of doing things, it's not suited, it's suited for commerce in a functioning world. You no longer have pesticides for instance, so I would say, raiders are somehow the least of your concerns in that context, you aren't going to be able to run a gigantic farm, forget about it
If you can handle a modest garden to provide for 1 to 3 persons, that's already fucking great
