I do the same. I actually have two - one out on my balcony and another tiny one I can carry with me on battery. I feed to Sky Glass.
Some nights we sit out on the balcony with the ATC tower going from a phone and the ADSB map on a tablet and watch the planes since we are quite close Sky Harbor and right under the flight path if the wind is blowing right.
It would be fun to set up some sort of low power (safe) laser type pointer that would have tracking so if you "selected" an aircraft it would point it out. Maybe a better idea is to modify one of those motorized telescopes and adding a camera to its viewfinder so you could just pick a craft and it would target and zoom in on it..
Then again. I am fairly sure I could not open-source something like that. It is probably against ITAR.
Apparently there's a spot where people shine the green lasers at the airplanes because ATC warns them.
We are so close that it's easy for us to spot them and know which they are.
