Pay attention.
DEI aside, no bridge should be that low.
Location: Parsonage Road railroad bridge in Edison, New Jersey.
Clearance: The bridge has a notoriously low 8-foot-6-inch (8-6) clearance, which has been the site of numerous vehicle collisions over the years.
Outcome: An 81-year-old male patient who was being transported in the back was ejected from the vehicle by the force of the impact. He suffered a serious injury to his wrist and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Legal Action: The patient and his wife subsequently filed a lawsuit against the South Plainfield Rescue Squad and South Plainfield EMS, alleging negligence and that the government entities maintained a dangerous condition.
Low bridge or no bridge? This is why we can't have nice things. The cost for raising the bridge would likely blow multiple years roadwork budget for that city.
I think there's two failures in that pic.
Based on what I know of vehicles like that, I believe the opening is less than 8'6".
I'm guessing it's closer to 7'2".
