Body Fat % is a much more important stat than BMI. BMI is nothing more than weight divided by height. It completely ignores muscle is heavier than fat. It is as useless as calories in < calories out, never mind that a calorie used to be used to determine a locomotive's fuel efficiency/potential.

You’re not wrong, but for those simply trying to lose weight, calories in/calories out and BMI work…it’s an 80% solution. No, it doesn’t tell the whole story, but it gets them reading.
I saw a stat yesterday suggesting people underestimate their caloric intake by 30-50%. It’s for people like that who will benefit from overly simplified, but easily understood mechanisms.
