For those who don't know what I am talking about:

https://basicattentiontoken.org/index/

I'd like to see this take off, because well, screw Google, but at the same time, I don't see people using the crypto as Brave intends. Once they add the ability to withdraw BAT from your browser's built-in wallet I doubt many people will hold on to them. Plus, once the price value increases people probably won't earn enough in a quick enough time for them to care. At the moment, I am making about $1 a week using Brave Rewards. How long until that goes down to 10 cents or less a week?

However, I do see this as a crypto worth investing in.

Thoughts?

Just looking at the graphs of it, if we are to believe that all (most) cryptos will jump back up towards original ATHs Brave certainly looks like it will at least get a 50% return in the minimum. I don't doubt the potential returns, what I do doubt is the survival of the company behind it that is Brave Software Inc.

It is another Silicon valley software tech company which was founded essentially 5 years ago and received an immediate 2.5 million from angels, in that time It has grown to upwards of 100 employees. Like many Silicon valley tech/software companies they often go defunct, are sold, integrated into a larger company, etc. Their survival is questionable as are all tech/software companies. For each one that makes it big there are thousands upon thousands which die in only a few years.

For that reason alone I will not invest any substantial amount of money into 'BAT' nor will I into any company coming out of Silicon Valley, it has been an investor trap zone since the 1990's. I have 0 reason to believe that as the company grows that the owners will not sell if given an offering which they will receive from the likes of Alphabet or associated competition once they grow to a certain size. The investors did not put tens of millions into Brave with the intention of keeping the browser alive but with the intention purely of making money as do pretty much any big time investor. The death or sale of Brave Software Inc is the essential death of the BAT.

That being said, I think it is not too unreasonable to expect the BAT and corp to survive at least another year and to get some gains on your BAT. What I do think would be a mistake is holding any kind of BAT for much longer than that. Considering there are a lot more stable alt-coins that have even greater potential returns. I would not invest a significant amount into BAT.

Thank you for your response, and something I have definitely pondered as well.

Time will tell

The reason I asked how much you are investing is that it is directly relevant, if you want to make a couple hundred dollars or up toward a few thousand under $10,000 on money that you are totally willing and able to lose, I think it is a decent investment.

If you are investing thousands and looking to hold to get big gains to make tens/hundreds of thousands, that is a seriously risky play you are making and there are much better alternatives for long term/larger gains. If I was doing the first one, I would invest now, wait until the next large run on all coins, once BTC nears its old ATH I would sell. That should see a return within your predicted range.

I would never invest thousands in a cryptocurrency. I don't feel comfortable sharing how much I have invested, but it is a small amount I am comfortable with potentially losing.

Thank you for your concern and advice though
