Wouldn't be a bad idea ... in the 'old days' Judges used to give juveniles an option to join the military or go to jail. I don't think they can do that anymore, but probably was a much better system for all.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they can't anymore either. It really is a shame. In some cases I think it could do wonders. Especially w/ problem children of single mother families.

Yup ... I haven't heard of it in ages though, so the ACLU or someone must have fought it and got it banned, as usual with any decent idea.
