I’m not sure what crime dumping water in someone would be. You probably shouldn’t do it too police but I’m not sure what you would even call that.

They call it assault when someone tosses a cheeseburger at someone else, so something along those lines I would think.

I would think but water seems to me it might be a lesser thing? It’s just water it’ll dry then again if you have electronics on you it could damage them and be costly so that could be a factor

True, it's only water ... but it's that slippery slope thing. Where do you take a stand, when it's bricks. It also falls under interference with an officer. The guys were giving someone a ticket when this occurred. So there's likely multiple minor, but still enforceable offenses

In one instance the alleged perpetrator (/s) threw the bucket itself at the cop, which is definitely assault.
The water-dumping itself took place while the police were trying to make an arrest. That's interference with the performance of duty.

I saw one NYPD official on the news ripping into the cops for not taking a stand and thought, "bullshit. He'd be the first one to throw the cops under the bus if something went wrong and a riot happened."

Probably, I don't blame the cops for taking a stand. I've had my fair share of run ins with them that went unfairly bad, I always assumed they were just having a bad day. We are all just people trying to make a living.

I think people unfairly give cops a hard time. They are people just like all of us, and if you had to deal with people who didn't want to deal with you all day everyday you'd probably get a bad taste in your mouth about it too. Its why I have always thought cops should do more community building type stuff the more times in a day they can have people thank them for what they do the more they are going to get rid of that bad taste. If you get to have people thank you 40 times a day and only have them pissed at you once or twice it'll make for a better work experience.
