I know a woman that uses a 2300-ish dollar purse. When asked, was told "you wouldn't understand". The use of material goods to project some "status" is an odd thing. I see lifted trucks with low profile tires(like for racing) that will never carry any cargo, or go off road. I don't get it.

Yes, trucks that can't do truck things is very common where I live. I drive into a parking lot and the trucks are at least twice the size of my vehicle. Most of them have never carried anything but air. Often when I drive through residential areas, I'll see multiple trucks in the driveway.

Yep. All shiny and chromy. Never do actuall truck stuff, just be shiny.

I especially love the diesel trucks because they're extra expensive.

I don't understand this idea of buying things that are overly expensive. I get the idea of payng for quality items, just not paying a lot for items that are merely expensive.

The other concept i have a difficult time with is buying slightly different styles of things. For example, shoes. I only own about 4 types of shoes: sneakers, casual, black Oxford and Tevas. But I've been told to buy different styles and colors over the years, which I refused. My argument is always, they aren't necessary plus they take up space i don't have. I tend to also wear them until there are holes in the soles.

A agree. Quality matters and I will spend extra for that, it's cheaper in the long run if you can afford it.

As for extra styles? I don't have time for that shit.

People like to feel and look important. I see all kinds of Range Rovers, Mercedes SUV, being driven by people who dont look like they can afford it. They like the way it makes them feel.
