tbh I'm not sure these charges are justified. This is horrible situation and while she may have been negligent in following policy I'm not sure this is criminal.

Perhaps the parents should be charged for not homeschooling him? Obviously school was not helping his mental state.

They state in the article that they checked on him multiple times. Doesn't really sound like abandonment/negligence to me. Sounds like a case of we're feeling so angry/sad/responsible that we are lashing out at everyone.
