Age makes law complicated. So we want to say a 10 year old can't understand changing their gender, but they should be tried as an adult for crimes? It is a difficult thing to codify as there needs to be discretion.

Clearly this 'child' cannot function in society. So what do you do with him? What happens if he is tried as a child and released at 21, do we really think he won't kill again?

A pragmatic society would treat cases like this the same as a dog that bites a child. Sometimes you don't want to put the dog down, but you know it is the correct thing to do.
