Sympathy requires empathy.

she didn’t believe that the boy was capable of hurting his mother.

Who could believe a government would wantonly poison and murder their own citizens and yet, here we are.

Reid reportedly believes that her nephew is unaware of how severe these charges are and how profoundly they could affect the rest of his life.

That isn't a defense. Under normal circumstances, we remove murderers from society. However, today, we embrace murderers and enable them. I'm sure the boy was traumatized by past slavery and he really just needs reparations.

He could reportedly be in jail for 60 years if convicted.

He has little to worry about, he'll either get off completely by a liberal judge or his sentence will be reduced to a few years. Niggers are a protected class and can do no wrong. <cough>slavery</cough>, <white>racism</white>

We can only hope that the court system can bring some justice to this unbelievably heart-wrenching situation.

Hopium.

COMPLETELY WRONG. This was the mothers full responsibility. A 10yr old is the sole, absolute, and complete responsibility of the parents (or single mother).

She was obviously abusing the kid and paid with her life. Institutionalize the kid for life because he's essentially feral and charge the grandmother with conspiring with the dead mother to abuse him

Age makes law complicated. So we want to say a 10 year old can't understand changing their gender, but they should be tried as an adult for crimes? It is a difficult thing to codify as there needs to be discretion.

Clearly this 'child' cannot function in society. So what do you do with him? What happens if he is tried as a child and released at 21, do we really think he won't kill again?

A pragmatic society would treat cases like this the same as a dog that bites a child. Sometimes you don't want to put the dog down, but you know it is the correct thing to do.
