These two statements are directly contradictory. I stopped reading the article after that. They should at least not open with a contradiction.

Got it that is still a very strange sentence structure because of the way it switches between both subjects i figured they were describing Julia Holcomb as that is what you would normally do. I guess it would have been too simple to replace singer with "he" maybe violate a few gendering rules and what not.
